Educational Opportunity
Educational opportunity does not come for everyone as my teachers in high school once said. Our education may get affected by different factors since the moment we are born. The type of education that you might receive may be poor or may be the highest level of education. Working class students get a poor education already being taught to obey and listen to orders while the elite class works in developing intellectual power. It all depends on your parent’s jobs, and economic standings. Depending on your social standing you can get a good or a poor education. Many people think that we all have the same opportunity as upper class does. Authors Jean Anyon, Mitchell Landsberg, and Gregory Mantsios have wrote in their articles that we do not have the same opportunities. Depending on our social standing we have a little or a lot of opportunity to succeed in the United States.

Social class can affect the education opportunity that you get. If you come from a wealthy family you are more likely to succeed in life than someone that comes from the lower class. In the article “Class in America-2006” by Gregory Mantsios, he writes about two life stories that are from distinct, different social classes. He writes about two real life stories one of the boy’s name is Harold S. Browning. He has a wealthy family and his dad is manufacturer, industrialist while his mother is a “prominent social figure in the community”. On the other hand, Bob Farrell is in the working class; his dad is a machinist and his mother a retail clerk. Bob and Harold have the same dream of becoming president one day, but have different socio-economic backgrounds. Harold attended a respected primary school while Bob attended a public school. At this point, we can notice the major difference between having money, the working class. Later on, Harold went to a prestigious preparatory meanwhile Bob went to a large regional high school.
